Adeline, Lady Molamure, CBE (Adeline; ''née'' Meedeniya) was the first female member of State Council of Ceylon thereby the first elected female legislator in Sri Lanka. She was the Deputy President of the Senate. Educated at Bishop's College, Colombo, she was the daughter of J. H. Meedeniya Adigar, member of the Legislative Council.〔 〕〔(Lady Members )〕 She was elected to the State Council in a by election in 1931 from her father's electoral seat after his death. She was later elected to the Senate in 1947 and was appointed as a Deputy President of it in 1955 for which she was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire. She was married to Sir Francis Molamure the first speaker State Council and Parliament.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Speakers )〕 Their only daughter Seetha Molamure became a member of the Senate of Ceylon.
